About Us

Sicily Artist Retreats is a distinctive international art school based in Marsala, Sicily, in the heart of the Mediterranean. We curate immersive workshops in painting, drawing, and sculpture, bringing together world-class instructors and artists of all levels in an environment designed for focused study, inspiration, and meaningful creative exchange.

Our programs are thoughtfully structured to help you take your work to the next level through five full days of intensive instruction. Whether working in oil, watercolor, pastel, charcoal, or clay, participants benefit from a rigorous yet supportive approach that includes daily demonstrations, individualized feedback, and ongoing one-on-one guidance. Studio-based workshops offer the opportunity to draw and paint from life in our spacious, professionally equipped facility, while plein air sessions take place amid the extraordinary landscapes of Marsala and its surroundings. Each experience is designed to meet you where you are and to support your artistic growth with clarity and purpose.

To ensure a seamless experience, materials may be rented or purchased on site, and our studio is fully equipped with essential tools and amenities. Meals are an integral part of the retreat experience—freshly prepared using local ingredients, paired with regional wines, and featuring our own organic olive oil—reflecting the richness and generosity of Sicilian culture.

We partner with carefully selected boutique hotels and countryside resorts, chosen for their beauty, comfort, and proximity to the studio. Each offers elegant accommodations, excellent dining, and attentive service, along with transportation to and from the studio, allowing you to fully relax and focus on your work.

More than a workshop, Sicily Artist Retreats offers a deeply enriching cultural experience. You will explore one of Europe’s most captivating regions alongside a small, international community of artists—sharing ideas, inspiration, and the rhythms of daily life in Sicily.

Come to where the colors are. We look forward to welcoming you.

Our Studio

Sicily Artist Retreats offers a thoughtfully designed studio facility that supports both focused artistic practice and a comfortable, welcoming environment. The space includes two dedicated studio areas, a kitchen, and an outdoor patio for all studio-based workshops to enjoy. Our grounds also feature three private apartment accommodations, reserved for visiting instructors or models.

Painting & Drawing Studio

The painting and drawing studio is a spacious, light-filled environment equipped with professional easels, canvases, palettes, solvents, and a range of shared materials available for student use. Additional supplies may be rented or purchased on site for convenience.

A dedicated model platform is equipped with adjustable, professional-grade lighting, allowing for a wide range of controlled and dynamic setups for figure work.

The studio includes two restrooms, one of which features a shower for the comfort of guests and models following long studio sessions.

Sculpture Studio

Our sculpture studio is designed to accommodate both clay and stone work, with ample space, industrial-grade lighting, and direct access to a courtyard through large doors, creating an open and well-ventilated working environment.

The studio is equipped with 15 modeling stands, including both rotating and stationary model stands, as well as a full complement of sculpting tools, clay, armature wire, and support boards required for workshop use. A dedicated restroom within the sculpture space allows for efficient and contained clean-up.

While the studio is suitable for multiple sculptural approaches, current workshops primarily focus on clay-based work.

Art Handling & Shipment

At the conclusion of each workshop, participants may either travel with their completed work or arrange for professional packing and shipment at a later date.

For sculpture, we offer additional services through trusted local collaborators. Works may be fired at a professional ceramics facility, after which they are carefully packaged and shipped. Participants may also opt to have molds created of their work in collaboration with a master moldmaker in Pietrasanta, Italy.

Kitchen & Outdoor Spaces

The studio includes a welcoming kitchen and an outdoor patio, providing space for meals, informal gatherings, and quiet moments of rest or sketching.

Each day, a local chef prepares fresh, seasonal lunches using regional ingredients. Meals are thoughtfully curated—often with a focus on Mediterranean, vegetable-forward cuisine—and include a selection of small dishes, a main course, and light desserts such as fruit and coffee. Dietary needs and allergies are carefully accommodated.
