COVID-19

In the event that a workshop is canceled as a result of Covid-19 government restrictions, or if a participant is prohibited from traveling to attend a workshop due to applicable Covid-19 travel restrictions, Sicily Artist Retreats will refund any payments made (minus a 4% transaction fee).

PAYMENTS, REFUNDS, AND CANCELLATIONS

Sicily Artist Retreats takes pride in creating an exceptional experience for our guests. However we understand that plans can change. The following refund policy is designed to balance flexibility for our participants with the financial commitments required to organize a high-quality retreat.

 

1. Deposit to Secure Your Place: A $500 USD deposit is required at the time of registration to secure your place. This deposit is generally non-refundable if you, the participant, cancel your registration, are unable to attend for personal reasons, or are a no-show. However, as outlined in Section 4, this deposit is fully refundable if Sicily Artist Retreats cancels the workshop.

 

2. Retreat Pricing and Payment Schedule: The total cost for our retreats varies according to special early-bird discounts, instructors' needs, materials that are provided,  and travel requirements to sites within Sicily.    Generally, our workshops range between $3400-  $4500 USD.

 

After the initial $500 USD deposit, you will be asked to pay the remainder in two installments:

  • First Installment: A payment of half the remainder is due no later than 180 calendar days prior to the retreat start date.

  • Final Installment: The remaining balance is due no later than 90 calendar days prior to the retreat start date. If any payment (first or final installment) is not received by its due date, Sicily Artist Retreats reserves the right to cancel your registration. In such cases, any payments made will be subject to our Participant Cancellation Policy      (Section 3).

 

3. Participant Cancellation Policy:

  • Full Refund Eligibility – More Than 60 Days Before Retreat: Cancellations made 60 days or more prior to the retreat start date are eligible for a full refund of any payments made beyond the initial $500 deposit, which remains non-refundable in this circumstance.

  • Partial Refund Eligibility – 30 to 59 Days Before Retreat: Cancellations made 30–59 days prior to the retreat start date will receive a 50% refund of payments made beyond the initial $500 USD deposit, which remains non-refundable in this circumstance.                                                                                                                               Alternatively, you may choose to apply 100% of your total payment (including the deposit) as credit toward a future retreat within 12 months. Processing fees may apply.

  • No Refund – Less Than 30 Days Before Retreat: Cancellations made less than 30 days before the retreat start date are not eligible for a refund due to the advanced commitments made on your behalf. All payments, including the deposit, will be forfeited. However, you may transfer your spot to another person, pending our approval. Please notify us as soon as possible if you wish to do so.

 

4. Retreat Cancellation by Sicily Artist Retreats (Force Majeure / Unforeseen Circumstances / Instructor Cancellation): In the event that Sicily Artist Retreats cancels the retreat due to insufficient enrollment, instructor illness, unforeseen circumstances, or events beyond our control (e.g., natural disasters, travel restrictions, global emergencies), we will issue a full refund of all payments made to Sicily Artist Retreats, including your $500 USD deposit. We are not responsible for any additional costs incurred by participants (e.g., flights, other travel, accommodation outside the retreat package).

 

5. Comprehensive Travel & Cancellation Insurance - Highly Recommended: We strongly recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance that covers trip cancellations (for personal reasons, illness, etc.), personal emergencies, and health-related issues. We are not responsible for any costs associated with travel changes or disruptions, and Sicily Artist Retreats is not an insurance carrier.

PRICES AND FEES

All prices include all fees associated with instruction (instructor fees, model fees, studio fees), including admission fees to all sites visited as part of the workshop, and hotel accommodations for the duration of the workshop, unless otherwise stated.

The workshop includes a hosted Welcome Dinner on arrival day, and in-studio lunches each day of the workshop, unless otherwise stated.

Each participant is required to bring (or arrange delivery of) materials required for the workshops as detailed in the program description.

LIABILITY

The owners and employees of Sicily Artist Retreats shall not be liable for any loss, damage or injury suffered (nor any consequential or comparable damages) by or to the workshop participants. Sicily Artist Retreats assumes no liability for any loss, damage, expense, injury, or inconvenience by reason of any defects in the structure of the property, plumbing, electrical systems, gas, water or failures in the supply of utilities for either the studio, hotel, transportation or any other facilities used or made available during the workshop.

If any participant causes, directly or indirectly, any loss, damage, expense, injury, or inconvenience to any person, facility, object, material or any other item associated with or used in connection with any workshop, the participant will be liable to Sicily Artist Retreats, the owner/operator of any accommodation the studio/facility, or any transportation vehicle for such damages, including consequential or comparable damages, for the cost of repair, replacement, or reasonable expenses incurred for treatment for any personal injury or other appropriate compensation for damages as determined under California law.

FORCE MAJURE

Refunds do not apply when your workshop is canceled because of risk of war or threat of war, riot, civil strife, industrial dispute, terrorist activity, natural disaster, fire or adverse weather conditions and similar events beyond the control of Sicily Artist Retreats.

MISADVENTURE

We accept no responsibility for any loss or damage you may suffer during the period of your workshop due to accident, illness, bodily injury or loss of equipment, or belongings or from any other cause.

​

INSURANCE

We recommend that you procure travel insurance. It is solely the responsibility of the workshop participants to obtain travel and health insurance while enrolled in Sicily Artist Retreats.

​

PASSPORTS, VISAS

It is the sole responsibility of participants to obtain the travel documents (passports, visas, etc.) necessary to attend Sicily Artist Retreats. Under no circumstances shall failure of a participant to obtain the required travel documentation be deemed to constitute a legitimate reason for cancellation of the participant’s attendance or entitle the participant to a refund under the terms described herein.
