Travel with Jennifer to Sicily
Immerse yourself in the timeless tradition of painting en plein air amidst the breathtaking landscapes of Sicily. Visualize panoramas as old as time that once inspired the Old Masters. Surrounded by charming Sicilian villages perched in the mountains, dramatic coastlines, and the ever-shifting Mediterranean light, you will discover endless inspiration and a distinctive color palette unique to this region.
This workshop is designed to help you translate the Sicilian landscape into paint, using light and color to reveal form and atmosphere. Under Jennifer's expert tutelege you will explore the principles of design and composition, the nuances of color relationships, and the art of simplification that makes outdoor painting so rewarding.
Instruction will emphasize the interplay of values, shapes, edges, and hues, alongside practical guidance on materials and paint application—all with the goal of creating works that resonate with both structure and emotional impact. Each day will include a short demonstration, followed by personalized guidance in the field. Participants will also benefit from group discussions and constructive critiques, fostering an environment of shared discovery and growth. In the event of inclement weather, we will continue our practice indoors in a professionally furnished studio atelier, working from landscape references on personal devices to ensure continuity of study.

"Regarding the plein-air courses of Jennifer McChristian I would say they are among the top three instructional art experiences I've had in my life, including drawing and painting instruction over years at Otis. She's a great teacher, very knowledgeable regarding all aspects of painting, drawing, and composition, and unlike many teachers who tend to hold back key points of technical know-how, she's super generous with various tricks of the trade gained through hard won experience."
