About the event
The model steps into the Sicilian light. Paint what happens next.
What happens when the figure leaves the controlled light of the studio and enters the shifting light and atmosphere of the landscape?
Join figurative and plein-air painter Kamille Corry in Sicily for an immersive exploration of the human figure in the landscape. With deep classical training and extensive experience painting both the figure and the natural world, Kamille brings these two sides of her practice together in a workshop devoted to seeing and painting the figure in natural light.
Working from a live model in the landscapes of western Sicily, students will study how sunlight and reflected color move across skin, how the surrounding environment influences flesh tones, and how atmosphere, distance and changing light affect both figure and landscape.
The emphasis goes beyond simply placing a model outdoors. Students will learn to see figure and environment as one interconnected field of light and color—observing temperature shifts, reflected light, edges, value relationships and the atmospheric effects that allow the figure to truly inhabit the landscape. Kamille's understanding of drawing, anatomy and structure provides a strong foundation, while her experience as a plein-air painter brings an equally important sensitivity to changing conditions, color relationships and the need to simplify and make confident decisions in the moment.
Against Sicily's extraordinary backdrop of Mediterranean light, ancient landscapes and rich color, this workshop brings together two enduring traditions of painting—the figure and the landscape—and explores what happens when each transforms the way we see the other.
About Sicily Artist Retreats

Sicily Artist Retreats offers intimate, master-led art workshops in western Sicily, combining serious studio instruction with the beauty, history,
food, and slower rhythms of the island. Based in Marsala, our retreats are designed for artists who want focused study, meaningful cultural immersion, and the time and space to deepen their work in an unforgettable setting.
Participants will work in Sicily Artist Retreats’ ample, professionally furnished studio, with space for painting, discussion, demonstration, and individual development. The studio is designed so artists can settle into the rhythm of serious work without the distractions of ordinary travel.
Studio lunches will be prepared by a private cook, giving participants time to rest, refuel, and return to their work without leaving the creative environment.
Afternoons will offer time to unwind after a day of painting — whether relaxing poolside or enjoying a sunset aperitif along the Stagnone Lagoon, with views toward the Egadi Islands. On two afternoons during the retreat, we will also step beyond the studio to visit archaeological sites and important works of ancient art, deepening our connection to the history, beauty, and layered culture of western Sicily.
